Robin Guidry of the Pink Alligator Gallery delivers her stylish take in an elegant collection of statement pieces.  The Pink Alligator Gallery came to fruition in August 2019, although the idea was born years before. Robin says, “Sometimes, the universe has to work out a few obstacles before one can pour the concrete.” Her husband, Kelly Guidry, is a renowned sculpture artist, is not only her business partner but what she considers her muse. Shifting gears from a business owner to a jewelry designer came naturally for Robin, and it’s working side-by-side with a gifted artist that inspires her to believe in her creations. Just like Kelly adds his final details to his sculptures, Robin implements her signature details into each piece.  

The gallery lends itself as the perfect backdrop to play ‘dress-up.’ In many ways expressing your outer self with clothing and jewelry is the most defining and satisfying for a woman. Women feel happy when they can express their style, and Robin says hand-crafted statement pieces are the perfect ice-breaker for any conversation—and represent who you are. Her clothing style ranges with her mood (and the weather), mostly boisterous with the 50s/punk-rock flare. Still, her jewelry is either elegant or over-the-top fabulous. From soft polished golds and silvers to brass--- she uses all types of metals that contour the overall design to envelop a tarnished yet refined look. Robin handpicks cabochons with stunning lustrous colors, repurposed retro sterling silver pendants (sometimes old pawn), to muted jaspers for her one-of-a-kind pieces that reflect her interpretation of 60s style jewelry and the byzantine era combined.    

Embracing what the particular metal wants to become albeit tarnished or remaining shiny, it is part of the plan, as well as the unique expression of how Robin chooses to live (Live and let live!).

Robin adds: I love textured surfaces, adding a gritty effect, dulling the shine of gold to make a piece look antiqued. I mix metals, fuse elements from various eras to create a piece that can stand alone, be worn with a black dress, or dressed down with a gray t-shirt and jeans. Each piece of jewelry is universal with your wardrobe, and it is a matrix of unashamedly bold elements that create a romantic statement—a statement that you love what you wear.
